I am passionate about modern and contemporary art and would like to share that passion with you.
I focus on British, particularly Scottish, art from approximately 1900 to 1975, with a special interest in women artists. I have over twenty-five years’ experience as a national gallery senior curator and as an international auction house specialist.
I am a BBC Expert Woman and a Saltire Society Outstanding Woman of Scotland.
I have been responsible for many major exhibitions, accompanied by publications, including those on modern Scottish women painters and sculptors, the Scottish Colourists F. C. B. Cadell, S. J. Peploe and J. D. Fergusson, 20th-century Scottish Art and modern British art.
I regularly lecture and write about my areas of expertise, including at the Universities of Cambridge, Edinburgh and London and for the British Art Journal, Scottish Art News and for the Scottish Society of Art History.
I post a work a day on twitter and instagram from a UK public collection, linking current affairs to art with a positive outlook.
I believe that everyone can enjoy, learn from and be inspired by modern and contemporary art.
