Did you know that the Walker Art Gallery, part of the National Museums Liverpool, has some super Modern Scottish art? I didn’t until I took at look at their collection on the terrific Art UK website.

One thing led to another and I wrote about four paintings in their holdings, one each by the Scottish Colourist F. C. B. Cadell (1883-1937), James Cowie (1886-1956), Stanley Cursiter (1887-1976) as seen above and Robin Philipson (1916-92).
Images of the works and my texts were released one by one on the Walker Art Gallery’s instagram account @walkerartgallery between 1 and 4 August 2020. You can read them by clicking the links at the artists’ names in the paragraph above.
If you’d like to find out more about Cadell, you can read my blog ‘A Stay at Home Tour‘ and my feature about him, ‘The Making of a Scottish Colourist‘ for Art UK.
