Please join me when I give a free, 10-minute zoom talk at 11am on Saturday 22 August 2020, called ‘From Student to Professional: Modern Scottish Women Artists‘. It accompanies the Modern Masters Women exhibition at The Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh which runs from 30 July until 29 August 2020.
Deep in the midst of lockdown, I was delighted to be approached by Christina Jansen, Managing Director of Edinburgh’s The Scottish Gallery. She explained that they were mounting an exhibition called Modern Scottish Masters Women. It celebrates the gallery’s history of showing the work of women artists. One thing led to another and I am giving a free, 10-minute zoom talk about Wilhelmina Barns-Graham, Pat Douthwaite, Joan Eardley and Anne Redpath at 11am on Saturday 22 August. It is part of a super events programme accompanying the exhibition.
You can register your attendance via this link:

It will come as no surprise that Barns-Graham, Douthwaite, Eardley and Redpath are amongst my favourite artists. You can read posts which I’ve written featuring them, at the links provided.
My first visit to a real gallery since lockdown was to the Modern Masters Women exhibition on 28 July 2020. I duly sanitised my hands at the entrance, put on my mask and maintained social distancing amidst the other visitors. It was wonderful to see real works of art, by such talented artists. The exhibition runs from 30 July until 29 August 2020 and can be viewed by appointment or on-line.
