There is one way on this site where you may choose to provide personal information:
Leaving a comment on a post
By leaving a comment, you accept:
- that it will be published at the bottom of the post;
- that I may use information from your comment on an anonymous basis in later research;
- that I may also use it in other posts on an anonymous basis where you cannot be identified.
The “Name” field is published. Consider using just your first name or your initials if you don’t want your full name to be visible or to be searchable, for example on Google. If you accidentally used your full name, just leave another comment asking me to delete your surname.
I can see the “Email Address” but this is not published.
I can see your IP address when you leave a comment. This is not published. It helps me tell when someone is posting multiple comments. It may sometimes help identify trolls, and it can indicate if someone is posting from outside the UK.
I decide whether or not to publish comments and whether to edit them.
Third party use of data
Except when required by law, I will not sell, distribute, or reveal your email addresses or other personal information without your consent.
However, your info may be used:
- To send you administrative communications, such as administrative emails, confirmation emails, technical notices, updates on policies, or security alerts;
- To respond to your comments or enquiries;
- To provide you with user support;
- To protect, investigate, and deter against unauthorised or illegal activity.
Sensitive personal information
At no time should you submit sensitive personal information to this website. This includes information regarding race or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious beliefs, health information, criminal background, or trade union memberships. If you do though, it will be subject to this Privacy Policy.
Children’s information
This website does not knowingly collect any personally identifiable information from children under the age of 16. If a parent or guardian believes that the website has personally identifiable information of a child under the age of 16 in its database, please contact me immediately at alicecurator@gmail.com and I will use my best efforts to promptly remove such information from the records.
Accessing your data (Subject Access Request)
If you want to see a copy of the information I hold about you, please email me at alicecurator@gmail.com and specify the Name and Email Address you used so I can locate your information. I will respond within a month.
The email requesting a copy of your data needs to come from the email address you used, so I can be sure that I am not sending personal data to the wrong person.
If you no longer have access to the email account you used, you can email me from a different account but you will need to specify the email address you used or I will not be able to locate the information. I will only send you this information if you used your first name and surname on the data and if you provide me with proof of your identity such as a photograph of your passport or driving license to confirm this name.
Data concerns
The data controller for this website is Alice Strang.
If you have any concerns about your personal data, please notify me at alicecurator@gmail.com and explain what information you would like corrected or deleted.
Please note that I may need to retain certain information for record-keeping purposes or to complete transactions, or when required by law.
